Formula 1 racing is on dramatic row of split as eight major teams have threatened to form their own championship following demands from the sport's governing body that their budgets be capped. It all started when FIA president Max Mosley announced the introduction of a voluntary 40 million pound budget cap fot the 2010 season.

The teams association FOTA said Ferrari, Brawn GP, McLaren-Mercedes, BMW-Sauber, Toyota, Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Renault were united in a decision that would split the sport in two if carried through. Williams and Force India have lodged unconditional entries for the 2010 season. They will be joined by three new outfits - Campos Racing, Team US F1 and Manor F1 Team.
