Volkswagen, Europe’s largest car maker on Monday announced the launch of the iconic - New Beetle in India.

The prise tag of New Beetle is of Rs. 20.45 lakhs (ex-Showroom Delhi). This marvel design of German Engineering is euipped with 2.0 ltr. 4 cylinder petrol engine with an output of 115HP at 5400 rpm. And it is paired with 6-speed automatic transmission. On safety part, the New Beetle is equipped with 4 airbags, Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) and Engine Immobilizers.

Other key features are, 6 CD changers, power steering, body coloured exterior mirror housings, tailgate handle, heat insulating tinted glass and 15" alloy wheels.

The New Beetle is available in five (05) stunning colours: Campanella White, Red Spice, Reflex Silver, Platinum Grey and Deep Black.

Nano

As per the dealers, the company has taken this step in the wake of feedback from the market and is soon going to launch a new upgraded version of TATA NANO. The exteriors of the car have been slightly face-lifted apart from minor technical upgradation.
According to 'Autocarindia' the changes we can see are:
  • 5000rpm rev limit to 6000rpm to quicken its acceleration, especially in first and second gear.
  • 5-speed gear-box, but it may be ruled out in India as company doesn't want to increase to top speed limit, currently 105 kph, for safety reasons.
  • Modified outside rear-view mirror.
  • A tail gate that can be opened.

Mamata BanejeeRailway minister Mamata Banerjee laid the foundation stone for an auto hub in Shalimar in Howrah on Saturday which can be considered as an initiative to attempt to compensate for the loss Bengal suffered as TATA moved out of Singur and shifted the Nano project to Gujrat.

It is the first of the 10 such hubs to be created across the country as proposed by the railway on its land.
